Compress PDF
Reduce your PDF size – text stays sharp and nothing is uploaded.

How can I check that nothing is uploaded?
Your files are processed in this browser tab. This page has no function that sends files to a server, and its security rules (Content Security Policy) forbid connections to other servers.
Check it yourself: load this page, then switch on flight mode or disconnect Wi-Fi and run the tool. It still works – because everything happens on your device.
Good to know
How it works – step by step
Choose a PDF
Select one or more PDFs – for example a scan that is too large to attach to an email.
Pick a level
“Balanced” shrinks the photos and scans inside the document and leaves text alone. “Lossless” doesn’t change how it looks, “Strong” squeezes out the most.
Compare and save
You immediately see how much smaller the file got. Not small enough? Switch the level with one tap, then download.
Why FaLe?
Text stays text
With “Balanced”, only the embedded images are recalculated. Fonts, lines and links stay sharp and searchable.
Never bigger than before
If a level doesn’t help, you get your original file back – with a note instead of a bloated file.
Several files at once
Select several PDFs and download the results one by one or together as a ZIP.
Protected stays protected
If you compress a password-protected PDF, the result is encrypted again with the same password.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser. Load the page once, then switch on flight mode – the tool keeps working.
Which level should I choose?
Usually “Balanced”: photos and scans are reduced to about 150 dpi, which looks good on screen and in normal prints. “Lossless” only tidies up the file structure. “Strong” turns every page into an image – that saves the most, but text can no longer be selected or searched.
Why does my PDF barely get smaller?
A PDF that is mostly text is usually very compact already. Big savings come from photos and scans. If the file is already well optimised, you get it back unchanged.
Does the quality suffer?
Not with “Lossless”. With “Balanced”, only images with a higher resolution than needed are scaled down and saved again as JPEG. Images with transparency are kept correctly.
Is there a file size limit?
We don’t set one. How large a file can be depends on your device’s memory. On a computer, PDFs of several hundred megabytes are possible.
