Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. The repair runs entirely in your browser. Especially with important documents, everything stays on your device.
Which kinds of damage can be repaired?
Common cases are wrong or missing cross-references, a missing end of file, a broken page tree and interrupted downloads. What is no longer in the file at all, though, nobody can bring back.
What does “saved as an image” mean?
If a page can still be displayed but not rebuilt properly, a picture of the page is saved. It looks as before, but text on it can no longer be selected or searched.
What if nothing can be rescued?
If not a single page can be found in the file, for example because it is empty or actually a different format, the tool tells you so clearly – you don’t get an empty or broken file.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
Yes, as long as you know the password and the encryption itself isn’t damaged. The repaired file is saved without a password.
