Annotate and highlight a PDF

Highlight, comment and draw right in the PDF – every PDF program shows your notes afterwards.

How can I check that nothing is uploaded?

Your files are processed in this browser tab. This page has no function that sends files to a server, and its security rules (Content Security Policy) forbid connections to other servers.

Check it yourself: load this page, then switch on flight mode or disconnect Wi-Fi and run the tool. It still works – because everything happens on your device.

Good to know

How it works – step by step
  1. Choose a PDF

The first page appears right away – use the arrows to turn pages.

  2. Pick a tool and comment

Highlight, underline, strike out, note, text, draw, rectangle or arrow. Undo any time.

  3. Save

You get the PDF with real comments – and, if you like, all highlights as a text summary.

Why FaLe?
  • Real PDF comments

No burned-in pictures: other PDF programs show the annotations and can edit or delete them.

  • Highlights as a summary

All highlighted passages and notes end up in a text file, ordered by page – ideal for studying.

  • Finger, pen or mouse

On a phone, “View” switches between scrolling and commenting.

  • No upload, no daily limit

Everything happens in your browser – without an account and without limits.

Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I highlight text in some PDFs?

Scanned PDFs contain only pictures. Make them searchable with “OCR PDF” first – drawing, notes and rectangles work without it.

Does the recipient see my comments?

Yes. The comments are real PDF annotations and are shown in all common PDF programs – including your comment text.

Can I change comments later?

In any PDF program that can edit comments. Here you can undo everything or delete single comments before saving.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser. After the first visit the page also works offline.
