Frequently asked questions
Why do the voices sound different on each device?
Reading uses your device’s or browser’s speech output. On many phones and computers you can install better voices for free in the system settings.
Can I start in the middle?
Yes. Tap a sentence or paragraph – reading jumps there. The arrows move paragraph by paragraph.
Are the bibliography and tables read?
The bibliography and tables are left out by default. Both can be switched on in the settings.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Text and speech run on your device. Note: some browsers also offer online voices (marked ☁) – those send the text to the provider. Choose a voice without ☁ if that should not happen.
