Convert PDF to PDF/A

Many portals, courts and universities require PDF/A. Turn your PDF into one – right on your device.

How can I check that nothing is uploaded?

Your files are processed in this browser tab. This page has no function that sends files to a server, and its security rules (Content Security Policy) forbid connections to other servers.

Check it yourself: load this page, then switch on flight mode or disconnect Wi-Fi and run the tool. It still works – because everything happens on your device.

Good to know

How it works – step by step
  1. Choose a PDF

Pick one or more PDFs. Protected PDFs are unlocked with their password.

  2. Choose the standard

PDF/A-2b fits almost everywhere. PDF/A-3b keeps attachments like the XML of an e-invoice, PDF/A-1b only if it is explicitly required.

  3. Convert and save

Tap “Convert to PDF/A”. The result shows what was adjusted.

Why FaLe?
  • Text stays text

Pages that already comply stay unchanged. Only pages with missing fonts or print colours become an image – with invisible text, so you can still search and copy.

  • Everything an archive PDF needs

Colour profile (sRGB), metadata with the PDF/A identification, a document ID; JavaScript, automatic actions, video and sound are removed.

  • An honest report

You see which pages became images and why, and what was removed – nothing happens behind your back.

  • No upload

Contracts, certificates and files stay on your device. The conversion runs entirely in your browser.

Frequently asked questions
Which standard should I use?

PDF/A-2b unless something else is required – almost all portals accept it. Use PDF/A-3b to keep attachments such as the XML file of an e-invoice, PDF/A-1b only if an older system asks for exactly that.

Why did some pages become images?

An archive PDF must contain all its fonts and may only use print colours (CMYK) with a matching colour profile. If something like that is missing, the page is taken over as an image. The text lies invisibly on top, so searching and copying still work.

Is the result guaranteed to be valid?

The conversion follows the rules of PDF/A level B to the best of our knowledge and is tested with the free veraPDF validator. For very unusual files choose “All pages as images” – that is the safest option.

What about form fields?

Fields with a fixed appearance are kept. Fields the viewer would have to draw first get a fixed appearance or become part of the page with their content.

Is my password kept?

No. PDF/A does not allow encryption, so the result is unprotected. Keep it somewhere safe.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser and your files never leave your device.
