Convert PDF to text

Extract all the text from your PDF – cleanly in paragraphs, to copy or as a TXT file.

How can I check that nothing is uploaded?

Your files are processed in this browser tab. This page has no function that sends files to a server, and its security rules (Content Security Policy) forbid connections to other servers.

Check it yourself: load this page, then switch on flight mode or disconnect Wi-Fi and run the tool. It still works – because everything happens on your device.

Good to know

How it works – step by step
  1. Choose a PDF

Pick one or more PDFs. Unlock protected PDFs with the password right on the file card.

  2. Check the settings

Choose the pages you need, whether page markers are added and whether repeating headers and footers are left out.

  3. Copy or save

You see the text in the preview right away. Copy it with one tap or download it as a TXT file.

Why FaLe?
  • Paragraphs, not broken lines

Lines are joined into paragraphs and words hyphenated at the end of a line are put back together.

  • Right reading order

Two-column pages are read column by column, tables stay row by row.

  • No clutter

Page numbers and headers that repeat on every page can be left out.

  • No upload

The text is read in your browser. Your PDF stays on your device.

Frequently asked questions
Why do I get no text from some PDFs?

Scanned or photographed PDFs only contain images, no stored text. That needs text recognition (OCR). The FaLe PDF app recognises text offline right on your device.

Is the formatting kept?

A TXT file knows no fonts or colours. Paragraphs, lists and table rows stay recognisable, though. To keep headings and bold text, use “PDF to Markdown” or “PDF to Word”.

What about umlauts and other languages?

The text is saved as UTF-8. Accents, umlauts and also Cyrillic or Greek script stay correct.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser. After the first visit the tool also works offline.
