Password generator

Create strong passwords or memorable passphrases – randomly, on your device.

How can I check that nothing is uploaded?

Your files are processed in this browser tab. This page has no function that sends files to a server, and its security rules (Content Security Policy) forbid connections to other servers.

Check it yourself: load this page, then switch on flight mode or disconnect Wi-Fi and run the tool. It still works – because everything happens on your device.

Good to know

How it works – step by step
  1. Choose the type

Pick “Password” for random characters or “Passphrase” for several random words that are easier to remember.

  2. Adjust

Set the length and character types or the number of words. The meter shows right away how strong the result is.

  3. Copy

Tap “Copy” and paste the password into your password manager or the sign-up form. Save several at once as a text file.

Why FaLe?
  • True randomness

Passwords are made with your browser’s random generator that is meant for encryption – evenly distributed, without patterns.

  • Nothing leaves your device

No server, no storage, no history. After the first visit the page even works offline.

  • Honest strength

The meter assumes an attacker knows the method and the word list – no flattering numbers.

  • Passphrases in two languages

Memorable word chains from our own list of over 2,000 English or almost 2,000 German words, plain letters only for easy typing.

Frequently asked questions
How long should a strong password be?

For most accounts, 16 to 20 random characters with all character types or a passphrase of six to seven words is plenty. More important than any rule: a different password for every service.

Password or passphrase – which is better?

Both are secure if they are long enough and random. A passphrase like “Maple-Rocket-Lemon-Tower-Cloud-Island” is easier to remember and type; a password is shorter for the same strength.

Are the passwords stored or sent anywhere?

No. They only exist in your browser’s memory and are gone when you close the page. A file is only created on your device if you tap “Save as text file” yourself.

How is the strength calculated?

We count how many different results your settings can produce and show that in bits. The time assumes 10 billion guesses per second – what a fast computer can do against a poorly protected, stolen password database.

Why are characters like I, l, 1, O and 0 missing?

With “Leave out look-alike characters” they are skipped so you can type the password without mistakes. The strength meter takes this into account.

Where should I keep my passwords?

In a password manager. A text file is not encrypted – delete it once you have moved the passwords.
