2 fully written cover letters, a ready CV with a placeholder portrait and practical tips – open the example and replace the details with yours.

Cover letter examples

Each example is written for a different starting point. Borrow the structure, not the sentences – your own examples and numbers are what make a letter work.

Application for the position of Junior digital marketing executive

Dear Sir or Madam,

During my placement year I rebuilt the newsletter of a small online coffee shop: fewer discounts, more stories about the roasters. Open rates went up and unsubscribes went down. Your tea gardens have at least as many stories.

I graduated in media business this summer. I ran search ads, rewrote product pages for search and built monthly reports for the owners. I like writing and I like numbers, and the best work happens where they meet.

I would happily move to the coast for the right role.

Yours faithfully,

Finn Marsh

Application for the position of B2B marketing manager

Dear Ms Jones,

Six years in fashion marketing taught me to think in weeks: new collection, new campaign, new numbers. In B2B a decision takes months – which is exactly why it appeals to me.

I managed a mid six-figure annual budget, led two agencies and rebuilt our tracking so we could finally see which channels sold. We cut several expensive activities afterwards.

I would like to start by talking to your sales team to understand how your customers buy.

Yours sincerely,

Kate Wilson

Good to know

Your application in three steps
  1. Add your own photo – or none

The example uses an illustrated placeholder. Replace it under “Choose photo” in the editor, or remove it: in the UK, US and many other countries a CV photo is not expected.

  2. Replace the details

Name, contact, jobs, skills: everything is filled in and can be overwritten field by field.

  3. Save as PDF

The PDF is created in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, no account needed.

What employers look for

In marketing, results matter: what did you try, measure and improve? Name channels, budgets as orders of magnitude, metrics and what you learned. A campaign that failed and what you changed can be more convincing than a list of wins.

  • Marketing degree or relevant practice

  • Channels: search, social, email, content, events

  • Analytics and KPIs

  • Budget and agency management

  • Strong writing and presenting

Tips for your application

Do

  • Use metrics and lessons learned.
  • Explain channels with examples.
  • Link your experience to the company’s product.

Don’t

  • Buzzwords without substance.
  • Confidential figures.
  • Only social media if the role needs more.
Typical interview questions

Prepare a short, honest example from your own work for each one.

  1. Which campaign failed, and what did you learn?
  2. How would you split our budget?
  3. Which KPIs matter for us?
  4. How do you work with sales?

Salary expectations

If the advert asks for your salary expectations, give an annual gross figure or a range you have researched – through pay scales, salary surveys from public sources or people who do the job. If it does not ask, leave pay out of the letter; it will come up in the interview.

Frequently asked questions
Should I include work samples?

One or two short examples or a portfolio link help – with a line on what your part was.

Should I put a photo on my CV?

It depends on the country. In the UK, Ireland and the US a photo is usually left out to avoid bias, and many employers prefer CVs without one. In Germany and some other countries it is common but optional. If you use one: recent, friendly, plain background, dressed as you would be on a good day at work.

Can I copy the example letters?

Yes, they are free to use. But recruiters read a lot of letters – one with your own examples, numbers and a real reason for choosing this employer will always do better. Use the examples as scaffolding and write the sentences yourself.

Is my data stored anywhere?

No. The CV and the letter are created in your browser. Nothing is stored unless you switch on “Save the draft” in the editor – and then only on your device.
